Mounting
These are my final images mounted onto white mount board, with a light grey boarder around them. My 100 word statement has also been mounted. I decided to put each photoshoot on different pieces of board, as they are seperate in my life, however they still have a strong sense of togetherness .

The Fear
I have just had a moment of fear. The mounting of my photos will be on white mounting board, with a grey sheet underneath each photo to use as a boarder. However I have a fear that my photos when spread out on one sheet will not flow together, as half are set at one place and the other half separately. However when reading through my blog I calmed down as the reason I chose to do them half and half was to show two very different relationships. Bringing these relationships together on one page creates a juxtaposition, however it works because in anyone's life, no matter how many different types of relationships you have, they all blend together to create one big relationship.
100 words!
A massive inspiration for my images has been Koto Bolofo. His ability to make any shot look natural gave me enthusiasm for my photography.
My images collectively show different relationships in people's lives. However, individually each photo has a different emotion. One shows peacefulness, one shows celebration, one shows intimacy and one shows happiness. Each of these emotions relates to love and hearts.
My aim for the images was for them to be spontaneous, therefore I took shots without people realising and took snap shots with myself in the photo, therefore not seeing what the photo was to look like.

Chosen images from this weekend.
I have chosen not to edit these images due to the fear that if they are over edited they will look staged. My images from the bonfire weekend have only been edited to add red and as these photos were taken with red already in them there was no need for them to be edited.
Editing in the red.
After experimenting with where the red should go on my images, I have decided to go with the more subtle approach. This is because I feel that the images are relaxed and therefore the red should not stand out and take away the attention from the photo.
Photos!
The idea of these images is that they show a natural intimate realtionship.
I took these photos without being able to see what the outcome would look like. This therefore made each photo have a flaw, whether it was lop sided or didn't show the whole image. However I think this adds to the spontaneity of the images.
I wanted the red in the photos to be very natural and not a massive focal point. Therefore I wore red tights and gave myself red lips, with a red lipstick mark on the boy.

The Photo's for this weekend.
The images in which I wish to create in order to show an intimate realtionship will be a close up of laughter. My boyfriend and I will both be in the photo. I will take the photo myself, holding my arm out. This will give the photo a naturalness, like my previous images.
I want the images to be spontaneous, like ones that get taken in a photo booth.

Problem
I went to get sparklers from the firework shop today, however they had all sold out. Therefore the photo which I wished to include them in will have to be changed.
Where should the red go?
This is my second chosen image from the bonfire. I chose this as the sparklers have a massive connotation of celebration and joy.

Where should the red go?
This photo is my first chosen image out of the two I am selecting from my bonfire photoshoot. The photo has strong connotations of love, family and celebration.

Red for Heart Photography Competition 2009/10
“The idea of the image was to set the strength of the colour red against a muted minimal backdrop"
This image shows the red as part of the main focus of photo.
“I feel that this photo shows young people keeping fit and healthy and having fun outside. It shows how important friendship is and that everyone needs to help look after each other."
Although there is a lot of red in this photo it is not the main focus of the image. The main focus is friendship and celebration, which is the message that I want to show in my photos. In my photographs I will probably follow the same idea as this one as I want my main message to be love, friendship and family.

Problem!!!
A problem I have come across is including red in my photos I have already taken. I am unsure whether to include it subtly or to make it a focus point of the photo. I have decided to look at a previous British Heart Foundation competition for inspiration.

Group Tutorial. Tuesday 9th November
This was our final tutorial until the crit. Before the tutorial I had hit a brick wall. I had taken photos that show the relationships with my family and friends last weekend and now I am planning to take photos with my boyfriend as he is coming up to my uni this weekend, however I wasn't sure how to stage the photos. My previous photos were extremely spontaneous and even though I want these photos to have the same effect, it has to be somewhat staged as its just my boyfriend and I, not a gathering of people.
My first idea for one of the photos was to put the camera on a timer and run in for a photo, therefore making it spontaneous. To include the red I would have red lipstick and kiss a red lipstick mark on his face.
This is were I came to a brick wall as I do not know what else I could do for another photo, however Hannah helped me come up with an idea which could incorporate the sparklers from my first set of photos. She suggested I could buy some sparklers and get my boyfriend to make a heart with the smoke. I found this idea extremely interesting as using the sparkler in some photos shows a link between the photos, which also shows how all my relationships in my life are linked together.

Last Minute Nerves!
I am about to go and take my first photograph for my final outcome. I'm really nervous because I know that if this doesn't turn out right then I can't re-take it!

Practice 3
This image was taken using party mode.
After experimenting with all the different effects I feel that this gave the most successful outcome, however I will use all of them in my photography tomorrow and will then see which one works most effectively.

Practice 2
Practice 1
I have decided to take photos at different stages in the night to determine what would be the best time to take the photo tomorrow evening. These photos were taken at 4.30, both using an ISO of 800. The first image did not have a flash. It turned out quite blurry, which at first I was not happy with, however I now feel that it adds more to the photo, especially as I want my photo to be natural and of the moment. The second photo was using a high ISO, but I also used flash. I did like its effect as it shows the darkness better, however Dave did suggest that we did not use flash. My next photos will be taken at 5.30. I will use the same effects as these, but I will also use the party scene mode.
First Photograph
My first photograph will be taken tomorrow night at a bonfire celebration with my mum, brother and family friends. The photo will be taken in very poorly lit conditions, therefore I have looked on the internet at how to get the best effect in the dark.
- Shoot during dusk
- Use a high ISO
- Keep it steady
- Shoot several and stack
Tonight when it starts to get dark I will experiment taking photos using these tips.

After taking my own images I found the sport scene selection very interesting and saw it as someting I could pursue in my final images. These images are by Sam Taylor Wood and show the idea of photgraphing moving objects well. Although I see my final images being natural and of the moment, I think is important to take this scene mode into account as I do not wish to have blurs in my images.

Photography Tips.
On Monday 1st November we had a lesson with Eve and Dave on how to use the effects on your camera. I have tried out some of the effects.
1. I changed the exposure value to +2.0
2. I changed the exposure value to -2.0
3. I used a low ISO (not as sensative.) I used it in brightly lit conditions.
4. I used a higer ISO (more sensative.) The higher the ISO the quicker it will react to the light.
5. I used the portrait scene mode. This gave it a large aperture, a narrow depth of focus. This meant that the subject was in focus and the background was blurred.
6.I used the night portrait/party scene mode. This gave it long exposure to light the background.
7. Finally I used the sport scene mode (for moving objects.) This gives it a fast shutter and short exposure. This allows you to capture the moving subject without blur.
